The Hunt is underway

It's a great Hunt this year, although my participation is limited by the fact that I have to work during the day. I'm loving my new (old) team too; it's much more put-together than my previous team, and the participation is huge. Yay for enthusiastic first-years. The "event" items this year are pretty good, although I'm missing a lot of them because of work. Sometime today, Kool-Aid Man is going to burst into a classroom and shout "Oh yeah!" and another Scavvie is going to enter a lecture class in street clothes, take a cellphone call, shout "THE CITY NEEDS ME!", remove his street clothes to reveal a superhero uniform, and dash out.

On the other hand, I don't get to do road trip this year, which is a shame because it's one of the best road trips in years. It's going to pass through eight different states (Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, and Iowa). There's also gambling, and not a County Route M to be found. I believe this is also the first time that road trip has been in the Mountain time zone, been west of the 100th parallel, and had its furthest point closer to San Francisco than to New York.

Nothing compares to this year's best item, though--item 219. "It's not a big truck, it's a series of tubes. Build the Internet as described by Ted Stevens."

Octo-Lincoln still disagrees.
